Frequently Asked

How far in advance do you typically book?

01.

We photograph a limited number of weddings each year and our schedule fills up very quickly. We typically start booking a year to a year and a half in advance.

How would you describe your photography style?

02.

Our studio celebrates a mix of photojournalism and editorial photography. We are modern and dramatic in our approach.

Do you travel to other cities or countries to photograph weddings?

03.

We love to travel and outside of weddings in DC, Virginia, and Maryland, we have photographed weddings in England, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, and Jamaica. Send us an email and we would be happy to talk to you about traveling to your wedding.

Will you have assistants?

04.

We often have a non-shooting assistant with us on the day of the wedding to carry our bags and prep our equipment. This allows us to prioritize our time with our couples.

How long after my wedding will I have to wait to receive my pictures?

05.

We provide sneak peek shortly after your wedding. All of your images will be in a password protected online gallery and available to download six to eight weeks after your wedding.

Do we get the rights to the wedding pictures?

06.

We retain the copyright but you receive unlimited personal usage rights for the digital images that you receive from your wedding. Unlimited personal usage rights means that you can do things like print them on your own, share them, or post them on social media. You just can't sell them, edit them, or enter them into competitions.

My venue is dark, do you use lighting/will you be able to shoot in this dark space?

07.

Yes, we use off camera lighting. We are well respected within our industry and often are asked to teach groups of other professional photographers regarding our lighting techniques.

Do you shoot in digital or film?

08.

We shoot exclusively in digital. While Cicely started her carrier in film and developing images in the dark room, we have found that digital photography provides more flexibility and instant feedback when photographing a wedding.

Do you shoot in color and black and white?

09.

We photograph with digital cameras so anything can be changed from color to black and white.

What type of equipment do you use?

10.

We work with professional level Canon cameras and lenses.

Do you have backup equipment?

11.

Yes! We come well equipped with multiple camera bodies and backup camera lenses. We are well prepared so that if there is a malfunction with our equipment, we will not miss a beat.

Will do you do our engagement photos on a weekend or in another city?

12.

We would be happy to schedule your engagement session on a weekend. If you want your engagement session outside of the Washington DC/Baltimore area, we would be happy to talk to you about any travel fees that would apply.

What is an Encore Session? Do you do them?

14.

Encore sessions are photo shoots that happen after the wedding and yes we offer this service. There are several types of encore sessions:

After Session – This gives our clients an opportunity to get dressed up again in their suit and wedding gown for an additional photo session. These sessions take place days, weeks, months, or even years after the wedding. After sessions are a great way for couples to get portraits in a location that we were not able to go to on their wedding day. (For example, a couple that is getting married on the Eastern Shore but would love wedding photos at the monuments in Washington DC.)

Maternity, Infant, & Family Sessions – We photograph these sessions exclusively for our past wedding clients.

Do you photograph maternity, infants, and families?

15.

We only photograph maternity, infant and family sessions for our past wedding clients.
